THE BIRTH OF MAARIFAT by SULTAN VALAD (K.S)
a relief to a pregnant woman during the birth,
none of these methods would be useful for her.
Only the pain and suffering during that birth makes her
reach her aim.
During the birth of Jesus PBUH, pain and suffering had taken
Mary to the date sapling. Jesus who is Ruhullah(Spirit from Allah), was born. Your body is Mary of the time.
Nafs(soul) is (like) woman and the Mind(Aql) is
(like) man. The faith(iman) and Maarifat emerging from the mind which is
towards you, is your Jesus.
If the sorrow of the Truth(Haqq) encompasses you and comes to
you one after the other, and does not allow you to be occupied with any other
it is likely that Jesus will be born from your nafs(soul) who is like Mary.
After you know that, do not make any effort to learn some special skills.
Increase your devotion to Allah(God),
and increase the suffering(tribulation) which, is required to reach Him.
Always plunge in LOVE and enthusiasm(shawk).
You will pass through all the veils, If you slip off
everything but the BELOVED and the face of the BELOVED.”
From the book Maarif-i Sultan Valad (K.S), Son of Rumi (K.S)
Translated by Barbaros Sert
According to Hazrat Zunnoon Misri, “the reality of Ma’arifat is that Allah(God), by the persistent effulgence of His divine light, divulges His secrets to the Aarif and illumines his heart and eyes by this Light to protect him against all the evils of the world without permitting even an iota of any doubts or reflection in the heart of the Aarif. After acquiring this stage in Ma’arifat a Sufi continues to see and enjoy all the manifestations of Divine Secrets.”
 Aarif: The one who reaches to the secret of ” the one who knows(becomes aarif to ) him self(nafs), knows his Rabb(Lord)”.
19/20.She said: “How shall I have a son, seeing that non man has touched me and I am not unchaste?”
19/21.He said: So (it will be). Thy Lord saith: It is easy for Me. And (it will be) that We may make of him a revelation for mankind and a mercy from Us, and it is a thing ordained
19/22.And she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a far place.
19/23.And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk Of a palm tree: She cried (in her anguish): Ah! would that I had died before this! would that I had been a thing forgotten and out of sight!
19/24.Then (one) cried unto her from below her, saying: Grieve not! Thy Lord hath placed a rivulet beneath thee,
19/25.And shake the trunk of the palm-tree toward thee; thou wilt cause ripe dates to fall upon thee.
19/26.So eat and drink and be consoled. And if thou meetest any mortal, say: Lo! I have vowed a fast unto the Beneficent, and may not speak this day to any mortal.
19/27.Then she brought him to her own folk, carrying him. They said: O Mary! Thou hast come with an amazing thing.
19/28.Oh sister of Aaron! Thy father was not a wicked man nor was thy mother a harlot.
19/29.But she pointed to the babe. They said: How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle?
19/30.He spake: Lo! I am the slave of Allah. He hath given me the Scripture and hath appointed me a Prophet,
19/31.And He hath made me blessed wheresoever I be, And hath enjoined on me prayer and Charity as long As I live;
19/32.(He) hath made me kind To my mother, and not overbearing or miserable;
19/33.So peace is on me The day I was born, the day that I die, and the day that I shall be raised up to life (again)!
19/34.Such (was) Jesus the son Of Mary: (it is) a statement of truth, about which they (vainly) dispute.
