Resim

Do not set out to do duty to God
While holding within your heart
The actions of the five dreadful sins,
Intoxicants, lust, theft,
Murder and falsehood.
These five will poison your heart, drag your life down, and immerse you in the fires of hell.

Resim

Do not live in anticipation
Of more auspicious times.
When the Angel of Death arrives unexpectedly, all the possessions you have gathered in your birth will be lost.

[ Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (rh.a), Golden Words of a Sufi Sheikh, Word no: 302 ]

Resim

God is not bound by time or season.
Live your life awaiting Him always.
If you can live in that state and conduct yourself in the same way He does, then since He knows no time, you will not know time; since He does not die, you will not die; since He does not suffer degradation, you will not suffer degradation. Remember this well.

[ Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (rh.a), Golden Words of a Sufi Sheikh, Word no: 303 ]

Resim

One who trusts God
And has earned His love
May appear insane
In the eyes of the world.
Do not ridicule such a man. If you do, the ninety-six obsessions will drive you truly insane.

[ Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (rh.a), Golden Words of a Sufi Sheikh, Word no: 304 ]

Resim

My son! A gnani, a drunkard, and a crazy man may look the same to the world.
A gnani loses himself and talks only about God in a manner that may seem unintelligible to most. A drunkard stutters in his drunkenness about family and money matters. A crazy man raves about the past, mumbling over the things which made him crazy. Outwardly the clothes and behaviour of all three are exactly the same, and the world classifies all three as crazy.
But if you understand with wisdom and analyze with divine analytic wisdom, you will realise the difference.
A gnani loses himself in God and speaks only of God. As soon as your wisdom realises this, go to him and pay reverential homage, learn what can be learned, and receive from him whatever you can.

[ Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (rh.a), Golden Words of a Sufi Sheikh, Word no: 305 ]

Resim

Just because you have been born a man
Do not become self-satisfied
And fritter away your life.
There are many qualities mingled within you. Transform those qualities, be reborn in God's qualities, and acquire exalted wisdom.
Only then will you receive God's grace and wealth.

[ Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (rh.a), Golden Words of a Sufi Sheikh, Word no: 306 ]

Resim

If you have been born a man
Thinking is certainly necessary.
But it will be most exalted in your life to think about your thoughts and correct them.

[ Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (rh.a), Golden Words of a Sufi Sheikh, Word no: 307 ]

Resim

Do not destroy the dignity of others. Your own dignity will be destroyed long before that can happen.

[ Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (rh.a), Golden Words of a Sufi Sheikh, Word no: 308 ]

Resim

My son, do not intend to ruin others. It will result in worse destruction to yourself.

Resim

If that which separates
One man from another
Is separated from man,
Man will be like God
Who treats all equally.

[ Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (rh.a), Golden Words of a Sufi Sheikh, Word no: 320 ]

Do not believe in men,
It will be dangerous to you.
But pretend to believe in them,
Pretend and save yourself.

[ Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (rh.a), Golden Words of a Sufi Sheikh, Word no: 321 ]

Believe in God
But do not pretend to believe in God.
If you believe in God
His wealth will be yours
But if you try to deceive God
By pretending to believe
You will be entirely deceived,
Bringing degradation to your life.

[ Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (rh.a), Golden Words of a Sufi Sheikh, Word no: 322 ]

Little by little use your wisdom to deceive and tie up your mind and the selfish desires known as the nafs ammarah. Capture them with your wisdom and keep them under control. You will be a man of wisdom if you succeed.
Do not try to deceive the truth, however. It would be like trying to deceive the fire while you are in the fire.

[ Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (rh.a), Golden Words of a Sufi Sheikh, Word no: 323 ]

Do not weep
At the state of the countryside.
Weep at the state of your body.

[ Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (rh.a), Golden Words of a Sufi Sheikh, Word no: 324 ]

Do not feel pride in clearing the forest
And planting good crops.
Destroy the dark forest of ignorance in your inner being, or qalb. Plant and harvest the good crop of wisdom and share it with all the people, comforting them. Then you will be praised in God’s kingdom.

[ Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (rh.a), Golden Words of a Sufi Sheikh, Word no: 325 ]

Resim

Before you preach to others
Preach to yourself
And then to your heart.
Your heart will yield sweet fruit in plenty, and the people of the world who see it will pluck the fruit, eat it, and become peaceful.
No advertisement is necessary. If there is ripe fruit on a tree, parrots will come in search of it.

[ Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (rh.a), Golden Words of a Sufi Sheikh, Word no: 326 ]

My son, if a light appears, the darkness recedes on its own, does it not?
If good qualities are present, beauty comes on its own.
If virtue is present, good conduct comes on its own.
If wisdom is present, understanding comes on its own.
If understanding is clear, faith in God comes on its own.
If faith is present, God will come to you.
If God comes, heaven will come to you.
If heaven comes, the wealth of God’s grace will come.
If the wealth of grace comes, then God’s love and compassion will come.
In that state, there are no differences and no darkness. If you fill yourself with these good things, everything will be within you.

[ Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (rh.a), Golden Words of a Sufi Sheikh, Word no: 327 ]

Do not cause hurt to the hearts of others.
Dispel the disease in your heart
Which desires to hurt.
Great benefit will come to you
And bring peace into your life.

[ Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (rh.a), Golden Words of a Sufi Sheikh, Word no: 328 ]

My son, you need to identify the nature of the poverty which assails man. The false wisdom which causes ignorance is a man’s poverty. If he can rid himself of that ignorance and attain wisdom, he will enjoy honour and the wealth of God wherever he goes.
