ABOUT THE KNOWLEDGE OF ALLAH(GOD)
“I cannot count praising You as You have praised Yourself. “ Prophet Muhammad (SAW)
“Praise be to Allah who has not given men a way to know Him except through their inability to know Him.” Abu-Bakr al-Siddiq (R.A)
“His cover is Light(Noor), if He reveals it, indeed, the Exaltation of His Face will burn everything of His creation that His Sight reaches.” Prophet Muhammad (SAW), [“Qawa'idu-l-'Aqa'id”by Imam Al-Ghazali]
“Comprehending the inability of knowing ALLAHU TAA’LA in real meaning, is a great knowledge(ilm) and cognition” Abu-Bakr al-Siddiq [Kushayri, Risala, II, 575; Amin Qaylani, Avnu'l-Murid li Sharhi Javhareti’t –Tawheed, l, 176; Emin Kadızâde, Tam Amentü Şerhi, 29.]
“God can be found only in God’s qualities. God’s beauty can be found only in
God’s beauty, God can be found only in His wisdom, God can be found in His
grace, His tolerance, His patience, His equality. This means that you will
only understand Him when you gaze intently into His qualities. If you do
not have that point, you cannot detect Him with atoms or currents or
instruments, with science or magnets, He cannot be known with any of this.
He can be understood through His qualities, He can be known through His
qualities, that is the mystery. “ M.R.Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (rh.a), Triple Flame
“If Allah(GOD) could be known by intelligence, there would be no necessity for prophets to come”.
“Do not attempt to prove Allah by using His creation!
Who are you trying to prove Who by saying He exists or not.
Dr.Munir Derman (K.S), Allah Dostu“you can not arrive in Allah by reaching to the levels of maturity in mind and intellect. Beneficience and bounty of the King(Sultan) does not accept any body but those who accept their inability.”
Mawlana Jalaluddeen-i Rumi (K.S)
“Of himself no one can know Him; His nature can only be known through Himself. Reason sought His truth,–it ran not well; impotence hastened on His road, and knew Him. His mercy said, Know me; otherwise who, by reason and sense, could know Him? How is it possible by the guidance of the senses? How can a nut rest firmly on the summit of a dome? Reason will guide thee, but only to the door; His grace must carry thee to Himself. Thou canst not journey there by reason’s guidance; perverse like others, commit not thou this folly. His grace leads us on the road; His works are guide and witness to Him. O thou, who art incompetent to know thine own nature, how wilt thou ever know God? Since thou art incapable of knowing thyself, how wilt thou become a knower of the Omnipotent? Since thou art unacquainted with the first steps towards a knowledge of Him, how thinkest thou to conceive of Him as He is?
Hakim Sanai (K.S)- The Enclosed Garden of the Truth, “Hadiqat-ul -Haqiqat”
“No vision can grasp Him, but His grasp is over all vision: He is above all comprehension, yet is acquainted with all things. “( Qur’AN- [06/103])
.. And when Moses came to Our appointed tryst and his Lord had spoken unto him, he said: My Lord! Show me (Thy Self), that I may gaze upon Thee. He said: Thou wilt not see Me, but gaze upon the mountain! If it stand still in its place, then thou wilt see Me. And when his Lord revealed (His) glory to the mountain He sent it crashing down. And Moses fell down senseless. And when he woke he said: Glory unto Thee! I turn unto Thee repentant, and I am the first of (true) believers.” ( Qur’AN- [07/143])
“The people of the Book ask thee to cause a book to descend to them from heaven: Indeed they asked Moses for an even greater (miracle), for they said: “Show us Allah in public,” but they were dazed for their presumption, with thunder and lightning. Yet they worshipped the calf even after clear signs had come to them; even so we forgave them; and gave Moses manifest proofs of authority. ” ( Qur’AN [04/153])
“The argument has been raised that all manifestation is due to the interaction of natural elements, working by their own force; every cause has its effect, and the effect again becomes a cause for the reaction; thus nature works unaided. The answer is, that every cause must have some preceding cause, or first cause, to produce it; and logically one cause may produce many effects, which effects again become second causes, producing new reactions, ‘While intellectual minds are seeking second causes, the wise man only perceives the first cause. Air, earth, water, being second causes, the precedent cause, which makes them act and pause, is hidden”
Inayat Khan (K.S)-From the book, Spiritual Liberty.
Dear brothers and sisters
Years a go, I was buying something from a Supermarket in Basildon -UK. I went to till to pay the cost of the things I bought then I have heard the cashier speaking to her friend about God. She was saying to her friend that “I do not believe in God. Show him to me, Where is He then?”.http://www.muhammedinur.com/En/islam/asmaul-husna-beautiful-names-of-allah-jj.html#more-68
I thought to my self, “how could we explain to this lady now about these issues, while her mind is looking for a GOD who is an object, a Zeus figure on the clouds and will appear infront of her when she snaps her finger”. Is this her fault to think like this? No! Since her childhood , she has been explained by the people that GOD is a white bearded man like Gandalf in the movie,”Lord of the Rings”, sitting in the heaven on his throne between the clouds, or she is imagining Jesus PBUH as GOD sitting on his throne in the heaven watching her from there and giving marks to her actions. When she dies if she behaved well, this man figure will give her a hug and say Hello, welcome my child. ”
Dear friends, lets not be naive. God is far away from the naive imaginations of the human mind. God is placeless, timeless. God can not be comprehended by any THING. A thing is a creation of GOD and in the power hand of GOD. GOD is not an element made of air, fire, water and earth like your body. We can not think that GOD will be visible in our back garden when we wish and we will see him with those eyes.
ALLAH(GOD) is known by the meanings of His qualities and attributes. We can only use our limited capacity(our minds and perception) to understand as much as GOD wishes us to know about HIM. Know that you can see the meanings of the attributes of GOD within yourself and around you. By learning His Attributes told to us by Allah and His Rasul(Messenger), if you are sincere, loyal and patient, you can watch the meanings of His Divine Attributes and get close and live close to GOD in this world. In order to do that, you need to obey the laws of ALLAH and follow the example of His Rasul(Messenger), discipline your body, purify your soul, empty the evil attributes from your heart and polish your soirit as described by ALLAH and His Rasul to us. If you empty your heart from evil attributes then the meanings of the Attributes and Qualities of GOD will manifest(tajalli) there. By this way, you will know your self and know your Lord(Rabb), inshaallah.
