WORDS FROM THE HEART by SABRI TANDOGAN
Be like a bird. Nest yourself on the heart egg throughout the night. From this egg such beauties manifest. ‘Sajda’ is where the Lover(Ashik) meets his/her Beloved (Mashuk). In sajda, the suffering/hardship(JaFa) is turned in to joy/pleasure(SaFa); and the darknesses are filled with lights. The heart of the person whose eye is fixed on the floor, rises in to heaven.[Sabri Tandoğan, Gönül Sohbetleri 1]

Repentance

Repentance (Tawba)

“If someone constantly asks for forgiveness, Allah will show him a way out every difficulty and a way to salvation every sorrow, and He will give sustenance from an unexpected source” (Abu Davud, Vitr 26).

Repentance… Asking for forgiveness… Desiring that one’s mistakes not be counted… Making one’s tongue and body witness to this plea… While making this wish, showing the sincerity of it through behavior …

Repentance(Tawba) has a function in establishing balance in the relationship between the servant(Abd) and Allah, who blew man’s spirit from His own spirit and who, in a sense, made man a candidate to be a part of Himself. Repentance is a requirement of servanthood; it is the requirement of recognizing man’s absolute ruler and drawing the limit of his own helplessness. It is a sign that the servant has not forgotten his Lord. Read the rest of this entry »

Thirteenth Discourse from Futuh al-Ghaib

On submission to Allah’s command

The Shaikh (may Allah be well pleased with him, and grant him contentment) said:

Do not exert yourself to attract prosperity or to avert misfortune. Prosperity will come to you if it is your lot, whether you seek to acquire it or view it with distaste. Misfortune will likewise overtake you if it is meant for you by destiny’s decree, whether you be averse to it, or pray for it to go away, or confront it with patience and fortitude to please the Lord.

Your only resort is total surrender, allowing the process to work within you. If the experience proves to be a happy one, you must endeavor to show gratitude. Should it be an ordeal, you must exercise patience and perseverance, try to accept it with good grace, or lose yourself in it and become detached by virtue of the spiritual states [halat] you are given to traverse, and the stations [manazil] to which you are made to travel on the path of the Lord, whom you are commanded to obey and befriend, that you may get to meet the Companion Most High. WOULD I WORRY ABOUT…

WOULD I WORRY ABOUT…

Melt the ice of my mind

In the salt of my tears

If I’d become a drop in the sea

Would I worry about the drop? Read the rest of this entry »
